FAQ

How do I register for an event?

Registration forms are processed through our GBA office for all events. You can register by mail or you can sign up on-line with a credit card. The on-line process is the fastest way to insure you a spot in our tournament. To register by mail, you must complete the registration form, and mail it to the GBA office at P.O. Box 115, Byesville, Ohio 43723. Payment must be received with your registration form by the entry deadline. For mail-in entries, please send a money order, as we DO NOT accept personal checks. Our deadline is 10 days prior to tournament. Please remember many events will fill before deadline. Check the website for additional information.

What rules are used for GBA events?

All rules are posted on our website at www.gbabasketball.com. Click on the PDF forms page and they are posted there. It is the coaches responsibility to know the rules of the GBA.

How do I hold a place for my team in your tournament?

The GBA does not hold spots in tournaments for teams. Sending a registration form without payment, roster, and tournament selection does not reserve you a spot. Obviously the GBA will attempt to work with you as much as possible, but saving spots for an event is not an option.

How many players do I need on my roster and how much do they have to play?

We do not have roster size limits or playing time requirements. Our events are competitive events. When playing 3 or more games in a weekend, a strong bench is important.

I NEED TO MAKE A ROSTER CHANGE FOR AN UPCOMING EVENT. HOW DO I GO ABOUT DOING THIS?

All roster changes MUST be turned in BEFORE the start of your 1st game. No players shall be added after that point. In addition, you should notify the tournament director if you have made a change since you sent in your roster. Do this BEFORE you play your first game.
Make sure all players that will play that weekend are in the scorebook from the first game on, even if they are not available until later in the weekend.

I HAVE TWO TEAMS THAT I COACH AND I HAVE A SOFTBALL GAME ON FRIDAY NIGHT. CAN I MAKE SPECIAL REQUESTS TO AVOID CONFLICTS?

The GBA will attempt to honor all special requests, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be possible. Plan on playing all weekend.

I REGISTERED FOR AN EVENT AND WE CAN NOT ATTEND. WHAT CAN I DO?

A written request MUST be made 10 days prior to the start of the tournament. If not, NO REFUND!

WHAT ARE RULES CONCERNING ELIGIBILITY?

The GBA will use the new rules posted on the rules page of the website on the rules PDF form. We are strictly "grade based" for playing divisions.  Please call the basketball office if you have questions for the 2019 season.

WHAT SIZE BALL IS USED FOR EVENTS?

The standard 28.5 women’s ball will be used for all games.  Teams will provide their own warm-up balls and game ball.

WHAT UNIFORM AND NUMBER RESTRICTIONS DOES GBA REQUIRE?

We ask that each team have 2 colors to wear at games. We do not restrict numbers, but would encourage you to have numbers that meet standards for the officials. Please have numbers on both the front and back of the jerseys. The 1st team listed on the schedule is the home team and the 2nd team is the visitor.

WHY AND WHEN DO YOU USE A RUNNING CLOCK?

The GBA uses a running clock only in the 2nd half of a game when a team is leading by 20 or more points.  If the point deficit goes back under 20, then the game goes back to regular stop and go.

WHERE CAN I FIND MY PLAYING SCHEDULE EACH WEEKEND?

Schedules will be posted on our website at www.gbabasketball.com on the Tuesday evenings after 9pm before your tournament weekend. Our directors are aware that you must make plans in advance and will strive to have the schedules posted by this time. Please plan on playing all weekend!  FINAL SCHEDULES will post on Thursday by Noon.

WHERE CAN I FIND RESULTS OF COMPLETED EVENTS?

All events will also be posted on the GBA website, as well as our social media pages.

MY TEAM ONLY GOT 2 GAMES IN THE LAST TOURNAMENT. DO WE GET A REFUND?

If the director made a mistake and did not schedule you for 3, then yes, they owe you a partial refund. If a team simply did not show up we can try to get another team to fill in during that time slot but since officials are paid and court time rented, there is no refund due from the area director. If you have a problem at an event, always feel free to give us a call.  The GBA Staff will do its absolute best to work with your team and make it right.

HOW DO I SEND SPECIAL SCHEDULING REQUESTS?

COACHES ONLY!  You MUST send an email to scheduling@gbabasketball.com by Monday at noon before the tournament date. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE FOR SCHEDULING REQUESTS. We will do our best to try to help your team out when we can but don't guarantee scheduling request.
